Iran - Trannies are Okay But We Murder Fags

Thanks to Jennifer Gee for forwarding to me the Salon article about Khomeini’s fatwa for transsexuals.

I’m glad that Iran has made it safe for some transsexuals who want surgery and desire to become heterosexual.  Hell, I’d be safe there.  Living without fear is, all too unfortunately, still a blessing and priviledge in our world.

Yet just last week Iran executed two teenagers for having sex and punishes girls and women for so-called promiscuous behavior. 

So I can’t feel all that great about Khomeini’s fatwa in the short-term.  In the long run, though, the understanding, however narrow, of certain transsexuals may lead to an acceptance of gays and lesbians, and, well, those promiscuous girls and women.
