Self-Organizing Men and Creating Communities

15.11.2005

The deadline is tomorrow, November 15 today for Self-Organizing Men: Conscious Masculinities Through Time and Space.

(Read the entire call here; and the anthology will be published by Homofactus Press, and each contributor will receive royalty payments for as long as the book remains in print.)

We have already received some amazing words, plays, poems, essays.  Some images are on their way to us, too.  Several people agreed to be readers of the submissions, and our Homofactus community just grows and grows.

This process amazes me.  What started out as a call for submissions morphed into a publishing company.  Loathe to submit to the process of pitching a book, I decided to publish the book myself.  Which led to another book in the works, then a third book.

Business doesn’t have to be soulless.  Business can contribute to the well being of everyone who is touched by that business, make a small footprint on the earth, treat our readers with dignity and compassion.

Anymore I think the competition for Homofactus isn’t Manic D press or Alyson.  It’s transformative products like….the iPod.  Things that change how we relate to ourselves and others.

Over the next several weeks I will be blogging about the process of making an anthology at the Homofactus blog.  Please check it out.  We will all be learning this thing together.

Together we can make Self-Organizing Men a life changing experience.  I want feedback, good, band and otherwise on the blog.  Our communities of readers bring the words to life.

And as readers I want you to think about buying locally when we publish SOM.

Buying locally is this:

The final authors included in SOM will have the opportunity to purchase books from me at a discount.  They can then sell the book directly to you and pocket a large portion of the cover price.  In this way, you give money directly to the local community, in the sense that everyone is local and every body represents a kind of community.

More financial support for writers means more words for readers means more opportunities for us at Homofactus to create communities across the globe.

Please join us.  We’re always looking for new friends. ;-)
