I received yesterday by mail the hard copy of Rolling Stone's "The Mystery of Larry Wachowski: Could the co-creator of The Matrix real life truly be stranger than fiction?" (read the online version here [2].)
Is the title grammatically incorrect?
If that were only the worst of it. Plot spoiler here: The article charts Larry's hook up with a famed dominatrix - the former wife of Buck Angel [3] - and together they ditch their spouses, Hollywood, and the SM scene in LA for transsexual filled SF, where they can play BDSM games while Larry becomes.....MtF? A woman?
You decide!
The bits of incisive transsexual understanding will, no doubt, floor you, as they did me.
Buck Angel is labelled "a partial female-to-male transsexual."

Oh. My. God.
Alas, I now know more about domain hosting and transfer than I ever though possible. I also know that it is a very bad idea for me to have both a yahoo and a gmail account.
And I really, really know that I've got to keep track of expiration dates. I mean, I know it. I just didn''t _know_ it until I thought my blog and website had disappeared into the webosphere forever.

"He's becoming a girl.""What do you mean?""He's becoming a girl!""Well. How do you know?""Because he's going on a diet and is really watching what he eats."(overheard at one of my local megadeath chain bookstores)Maybe it really is that simple.....

Too bad I'm not Jewish, or I'd enter this [1] contest!A Danish paper publishes a cartoon that mocks Muslims. An Iranian paper responds with a Holocaust cartoons contest - - Now a group of Israelis announce their own anti-Semitic cartoons contest!Eyal Zusman (30, back from anonymity) and Amitai Sandy (29), graphic artist and publisher of Dimona Comix [2] Publishing, from Tel-Aviv, Israel, have followed the unfolding of the “Muhammad cartoon-gate” events in amazement, until finally they came up with the right answer to all this insanity - and so they announced today the launch of a new anti-Semitic cartoons contest - this time drawn by Jews themselves!“We’ll show the world we can do the best, sharpest, most offensive Jew hating cartoons ever published!” said Sandy “No Iranian will beat us on our home turf!”The contest has been announced today on the www.boomka.org [3] website, and the initiators accept submissions of cartoons, caricatures and short comic strips from people all over the world. The deadline is Sunday March 5, and the best works will be displayed in an Exhibition in Tel-Aviv, Israel.Sandy is now in the process of arranging sponsorships of large organizations, and promises lucrative prizes for the winners, including of course the famous Matzo-bread baked with the blood of Christian children.

You gotta know things won't improve much for trannies when gay men still get ignorant comments thrown their way. From Andy, in my comments [2] section:
Here's one for your collection, said on more than one occasion to me and David as a gay couple:
"So which of you is the man and which of you is the woman in the bedroom?"
We always answer "either, neither, or both" and "wow, you limit yourself to the bedroom?" as well as "So what's your idea? Woman underneath, man on top? Missionary? Is that ALL?" :-)
I mean, really, if those BFD queer shows can't smarten folks up, what are we to do, without hardly any good TV shows?!

File this one under internalized transphobia and bodyism (?).At Yoga class on Saturday I saw a guy who had a body shape I found, well, repulsive. How he looked is irrelevant. That I found it repugnant - and my repugnance became specific to a particular person in space and time -is the whole point. Why? Because in the ongoing drama contained in my brain about:How men should look; How I don't look that way;Why I hate myself because I don't look that way;And how not looking that way is because I'm trans;I forget that men come in all shapes and sizes.I also forget that my job is to live inside my body. Not a short distance from it. But right inside it. And accept me in my body as I am.

Who knew?
Attempting to print t-shirts with one of my cartoons, in sizes as high as 4X {without paying extra}, with one of my neck labels ["Limited Edition of 100"], at one shop = impossible.
Why do I care about a neck label? Branding. I do not want one of my dear readers to spend their hard earned life energy on a limited edition t-shirt, only to read "Hanes Beefy T" on the neck label.
Cheesy. Cheap. Keeping their label says, "I don't care enough to send the very best!"
I do, and will offer the very best. One of the four cartoons [1] will definitely be this one:

I'll speaking at Forge-Forward 2007 [1] in Milwaukee, March 29-April 1, 2007Bit O' Trivia: I attended FtM meetings with michael munson, the founder of what is now known as FORGE. I recall a contest to name the group. As I recall I did _not_ choose FORGE (For Ourselves Redefining Gender Expression). Something with Man in the title probably tickled my fancy. Oh, and all of this happened in 1996-1997. Real ancient history in transsexual FtM communities.

I've created a flickr page [1] to view nine of my cartoons. Comment or Add to Favorites your top four favorites.Bear in my mind that I will probably go with one T-shirt first. I will print 25 as a limited edition. Once those T-shirts are gone, I won't print them again. Think global microbrand.

I've been asked about the possibility of selling t-shirts with one of my cartoons on it."You're kidding," I said. They weren't. So I thought about it. Maybe I can sell two designs in a limited edition run of, say, twenty or so. Once they're sold out, they are gone.Yes? No? (Don't worry. You won't hurt my feelings if you say no.) If yes, any cartoon suggestions? Thanks! (Oh, and what about the button idea?)

In Color: A Natural History of the Palette [1], Victoria Findley writes that color arises through oscillating electromagnetic waves that aborb and reject various "colors" to arrive at the "color" we see. (These waves, by the way, are what really make up us, the world and our universe. Everything else is language, neural pathways, smoke and mirrors.)"Red," for example, oscillates in such a way as to absorb blue and yellow and reject red. Thus we see red. Then I applied this phenomena to gender:As a transsexual man, I oscillate in such a way as to absorb female, feminine and various other types of gender, and reject masculinity and/or male, which is why I/we see male.Unscientific for sure. But I think it makes a nifty comeback to all the stupid born-in-the-wrong body comments. When they protest, or stare at me, I say, "t.h.i.n.k. about it." This works in america, where most people of scientifically ignorant of even how the body metabolizes hormones. One of the virtues of transsexuality, for me, is the freedom to tell whatever story I want about why I am the way I am. People may not believe me, but at least I get them thinking. What other theories - wacky or humble - have you folks offered up? How have you transformed your stories over the years? After ten years on hormones and twelve years living as a man, I find my story telling becoming more impish.....

Folks who want to be on our side sometimes parrot conventional wisdom and say, "transsexuals are born in the wrong body."
Over the last many years, I realize I've come to deal with this particularly large piece of baggage in a variety of ways:
I believed it.
I rejected it.
I've turned it back on the speaker. ("Oh? Why do you say that?")
I've reframed it. (See cartoon above.)
I've simply said nothing.
I've simply thought nothing more about it. Until I think about it....again.
So how do you all address this big piece of baggage? If you aren't born in the wrong body, what story or stories do you tell about your body. (I feel another contest coming on........)

Seriously! I realized yesterday that I believe I am stupider now on T than pre-T. (I realize that saying I'm stupider on T is sooooo un-PC. But who cares?!)
My thoughts muddle through molasses and lack all profundity. My visual acuity is much higher and so is my spatial sense.
What changes have other folks noticed on hormones? Folks on T ~ say something besides "more horny!"
