I have a pal who says he is F moving to mother-fucking-something-else.Sometimes I think I'm mothering-fucking-something else who has moved to M. I know folks called me F but I surely failed at that experiment like George Shrub Jr. fails routine intelligence tests.

In his contrition routine on Letterman, Kramer claims (I work to not type that "k" instead of "c") he didn't make racist comments.
That's where he was going with his routine!!! Of course! It's Art, ladies and gents! What were we thinking!
You know I am getting really fucking sick and tired of third rate artists claiming the art card when they let their mouths or pens run wild. Yoo hoo, Kramer. What you said isn't art, it's shit. That's why everyone is now saying you stink!

Michael Richards uses the n- word twice in his Laugh Factory show, then claims he's not racist. [Maybe he can hook up with Mel Gibson?] Heard this one before. Paul Rodriguez has the best quote, "Freedom of speech has its limitations and I think Michael Richards found those limitations." During his "Late Show" contrition routine he uses the term "Afro-American." Dude, pay attention, okay? See what happens when you think you're better than everybody else? Right about 9:00 am or so Friday, November 17, 2006 I realized that a dear friend had returned to my life.
Depression snuck in and had not bothered to send advance notice of his visit. His last visit, in mid-fall 2002, sent me to a free Depression intake offered through the University Hospital system. Out of a possible thirty or so points on the test to determine exactly how depressed is each respondent, I believe I scored around 28.
Suicidal ideation combined with family history scores high points.
I write suicidal ideation now at a great distance, though the combination of bleak feelings combined with wanting to scratch my face off reminds me of those thoughts in ways that both suprise and comfort me.
They suprise me because I thought that Depression and his siblings had dumped me for good. All the cognitive behavioral therapy, yoga, exercise and evolving spiritual work I practice had caused them to drop me like a bad habit, or so I thought.
But it has now been my experience that I cannot change that he has somehow chosen me as a temporary residence. Hi visits - and there will be more in the future, I'm sure - assert that I can only accept him.
Somehow this assertion comforts me. Whereas four years ago (and all the times before then) Depression had been my Enemy, now I must acknowledge that he is a good, dear friend. Not one I particularly like, mind you. But one whose arrival beckons ancient reminders of kindness and health and family.
He reminds me that my work is often returning phone calls, having dinner with friends, playing with the cat. The narrow and less balanced my focus becomes, the more likely Depression will appear and whisper in my ear, "eat well, sleep deeply, shower those with love who want you, practice kindness, practice diligence, practice continuity of practice."
Most of all, he caresses in my ear, "Never foresake yourself."

The book reading went well, I think.Overall the talk was too long. I'm going to post the audio and let others decide. Having said that, the book is actually rather challenging to talk about, and I edited it.Great audience members, most of whom stayed until past the published end time. In these times of an abundance of attention grabbers in the market, I know that I compete for people's attention. That they chose to stay is quite an honor. The reading was also another debut of sorts, as the previous evening (Wednesday) my name was announced at a screening of Cruel and Unusual (a must see, btw) as a "noted trans activist." Several staff in attendance strained to see me better, I think, as though staring hard might have revealed something they had missed in months passed.I'm happy that my debut came as a result of Self-Organizing Men. I'm very proud of it, proud to be associated with it and proud of everyone in my life who worked hard and happily to make my debut and birthday successful.

[1] Big problems in far away places aren’t nearly as critical as tiny problems right under your nose or behind your eyes.{....}Maybe we need more passionate commitment to the problems within ourselves. There are burning issues of international and historical importance that you must take care of right this very second and they are not thousands of miles away. They are right here. It's only when you attend to these matters very close that you can do anything about the ones that are far away.via Hardcore Zen [2]

New York Plans to Make Gender Personal Choice - New York Times [1]
Under the rule being considered by the city’s Board of Health, which is likely to be adopted soon, people born in the city would be able to change the documented sex on their birth certificates by providing affidavits from a doctor and a mental health professional laying out why their patients should be considered members of the opposite sex, and asserting that their proposed change would be permanent.
A huge hat tip to Jennifer Gee for this link. Smooches, baby. Smooches.
