The Debut

November 18, 2006 – 7:58 am

The book reading went well, I think.

Overall the talk was too long. I’m going to post the audio and let others decide. Having said that, the book is actually rather challenging to talk about, and I edited it.

Great audience members, most of whom stayed until past the published end time. In these times of an abundance of attention grabbers in the market, I know that I compete for people’s attention. That they chose to stay is quite an honor.

The reading was also another debut of sorts, as the previous evening (Wednesday) my name was announced at a screening of Cruel and Unusual (a must see, btw) as a "noted trans activist." Several staff in attendance strained to see me better, I think, as though staring hard might have revealed something they had missed in months passed.

I’m happy that my debut came as a result of Self-Organizing Men. I’m very proud of it, proud to be associated with it and proud of everyone in my life who worked hard and happily to make my debut and birthday successful.
