The Real Time Debut of Self-Organizing Men

November 3, 2006 – 3:50 pm

How’s that for a title?

On November 16, 2006 I will give my first reading of Self-Organizing Men here in lovely Ann Arbor.

That day is also my birthday. I welcome age guessing in the comments section.

Right now I’m really considering reading from all of the contributors in some way and using some of my cartoons and my film Phallocy to illustrate key points. And I will read from my intro.

I’ve attended a few trying - and downright boring - author reads in my day, including one recently where the author did not read at all from their latest book.

Other strange author readings you have attended? (Though I confess that using powerpoint ~ which I plan to do at mine ~ ranks as strange, too)

  2. I am half-way thru SOM, and I gotta tell ya this is a fantastic book! I don’t often enjoy transbooks that much, for many reasons, however, I find this one insightful, moving and consistently thought provoking. The people are not grandstanding politically, they are vulnerable and consistently interesting. Congrats!

  3. I know your age! (you said we could guess) but i’ll never tell!

i’m considering submitting an essay for the anthology Femmethology you advertised a few weeks ago, but reading SOM makes that seem a daunting task…I’m not sure I can write that well in non-fiction….you have set a high standard!
